Aircraft preservation role October 1st 2004 Spirax Sarco humidifiers are helping preserve aircraft at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.
The accurate control offered by the Hygromatik CompactLine units ensures RH inside the American Air Museum remains at a stable 45 to 50%, whatever the conditions outside.
The museum has a dehumidification system from Munters to minimise corrosion of the aircraft.
However, the venue is increasingly used for conferences and the decision was taken to install a new heating system.
Munters knew that raising the temperature in winter would cause RH to fall, so opted to install two Hygromatik self-generative humidifiers. These use electrodes to generate up to 58kg/h of steam by heating an internal reservoir.
Units are microprocessor- controlled to ensure that the set humidification level is precisely maintained. The controller also automatically selects the most economic mode of operation for the water quality. More articles from Spirax Sarco Ltd: |
