Friends with the goose that laid the golden egg... Where there's muck... September 13th 2006 A novel application of fibre recovery has netted Snowdonian firm Creative Paper Wales a £20,000 Millennium Award for its Sheep Poo Paper products, according to the BBC.
The company recovers sheep poo from local mountains, sterilises it in pressure cooker, recovers the undigested fibres and mixes the recovered fibres to make paper and card for its stationary and gift products.
Sheep only digest around half of what they eat, which means the company will be able to produce around one to two tonnes of paper per annum – and deliver a uniquely Welsh product. More articles from WEE News Desk: |
