ESTA: Free energy conferences March 13th 2008 Understanding the obligations from A-G is the title of a series of new free energy conferences from the Energy Services and Technology Association (ESTA).
Energy managers are faced with a raft of new energy-related legislation, designed by different Government departments, with different obligations and deadlines.
As energy becomes an increasingly central political issue, so this trend can be expected to grow. ESTA's series of free, one-day conferences organised is designed to help hard-pressed managers understand – and meet – their legal obligations. And, at the same time, the Association aims to show them how to make the most of the opportunities arising from the new regulations.
The introduction of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs) in the non-domestic sector is taking place this year. Organisations may find themselves immediately affected by one, both – or neither. These conferences will look at what the regulations actually say, what the obligations are for particular organisations and how to comply. The regulations are mandatory, not voluntary, so it is important to find out exactly what the implications are for your organisation.
The conferences will describe the obligations, outline how to comply, and discuss how technologies and services can make the implementation process simpler. They will also cover ways in which the regulations can be used to improve the energy performance of buildings – which was the underlying theme behind their development. As performance will now be depicted in a simple A-G scale, the costs and benefits of improving the energy efficiency can be presented to senior management in a much more user-friendly fashion. ESTA believes that improving the rating of a building from a lower band to a higher one will have a financial (and environmental) benefit which will be much easier to characterise and justify.
These free events will be held at venues around the country in the second half of April and the beginning of May. For more details and to register, please visit the ESTA website at: www.esta.org.uk More articles from ESTA: |
