An end to ‘greenwashing?’
June 1st 2008

The Carbon Trust has launched a ‘green standard’in a bid to put an end to greenwashing.

The ‘Carbon Trust Standard ‘ requires companies to prove they are tackling climate change and have made genuine reductions in their carbon emissions.

The standard is designed to show consumers which brands are truly taking action and help businesses reduce emissions in their supply chains.

As well as measuring, managing and reducing their carbon footprint and making real reductions year-onyear, the standard requires organisations to take action themselves rather than paying others to reduce via off-setting.

Accreditation costs up to £12,000 and there is no minimum CO2 reduction For more information and a list of companies who have already received the standard see: www.carbontruststandard.com
