Meeting oil storage regulations June 1st 2006 Merlin Power Management, has been awarded a contract from Dyer & Butler in Southampton to carry out work to ensure that Thames Water Utilities standby generators meet the DEFRA Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations 2001.
Merlin will be undertaking extensive work on 80 generators located within the Thames Water area.
The contract requires Merlin to install new fuel pipework from each generator's base frame to the engine and install cabling between the generator's control panel and the fuel tank. Merlin engineers will then mount a new fuel solenoid to the pipework and wire it to the control circuit. Finally, they will completely test the system to ensure that it is fully functional and meets the regulations.
The company has also designed a range of steel bunds and fuel containment systems that meet the regulations and which can be retrofitted to existing generators. More articles from Merlin Power Management: |
