Ministry of Defence purchases PhoCheck detectors December 1st 2006 After exhaustive testing, the Ministry of Defence has purchased 20 PhoCheck PhotoIonisation detectors for use on Royal Navy Submarines.
The 20 Ion Science PhoCheck instruments, available from Shawcity, will be used as occupational hygiene tools to detect levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the atmosphere on submarines. This will help ensure that those serving on submarines will not be exposed to harmful levels of VOCs.
The PhoCheck+ 1000 is Ion Science's low cost intrinsically safe PhotoIonisation detector with a detection range from 0.1 to 4,000 ppm.The instrument benefits from patented 'Fence Electrode' technology for superior humidity performance, and has an inbuilt gas table detailing over 250 gases and their corresponding response factors. The 1000+ is also fully upgradeable throughout the PhoCheck range -which includes measurement from 1ppb up to 10,000 ppm- should detection needs change in the future.
