Woodchips Vital to green energy supplier
June 1st 2008

Vital Energi is a green energy supplier offering a fully integrated service from design through to installation, servicing and maintenance solely, through inhouse resources. The company is working on what it believes to be some of the most significant ecohomes projects across the country.

It will deliver a £2million biomass district heating system servicing for Woodbrook eco-village, County Antrim.

Over a three year project,Vital Energi will provide for heating and hot water to homes, 100% from wood-burning boilers with no gas or oil back up, fuelled by chips produced from willow currently being grown by local farmers.

The company is also working to deliver a woodchip district heating system as part of the £150million Littlecombe regeneration project in Gloucestershire; installing, servicing and maintaining the system in addition to sourcing an ongoing woodfuel supply to heat around 450 homes.

Littlecombe will be the largest sustainable community in the UK. In Scotland, a further four projects are already moving ahead; including a biomass community heating scheme, two district heating systems and the installation of a wood chip boiler system to provide heat and hot water to Sabhal Mor Ostaig College campus building.
