Minimising energy at BNFL December 1st 2005 BNFL is the latest energy company to outsource its HVAC service and maintenance and is using EWS (Eaton-Williams Service) at its Springfield site near Preston. EWS is already a leading supplier for a number of utility companies but this is one of the first contracts in the energy market.
BNFL is an international energy business that spans the entire nuclear energy cycle from designing reactors through to the manufacture of fuel, power station decommissioning and clean-up.
EWS' contract which covers the Springfield facilities is delivering a mix of planned preventative maintenance with an emphasis on energy efficiency.
The critical nature of BNFL's business requires that all plant be well maintained to maximised performance levels and minimise energy use and waste energy.
Springfields was the first plant in the world to produce fuel for a commercial power station and has provided nuclear fuel for fabrication services since the mid-40s.
The contract was originally won for EWS in 1999. Since then the plant has undergone a number of changes with plant either being resited or new kit being installed.
Much of the HVAC equipment is Eaton-Williams own branded products and includes chillers, Moducel air handling units and IPAC units, Edenaire close control Series 600 units and a variety of split systems and window units.
The contract is managed through EWS network of mobile engineers and backed up with EWS' emergency 24/7 response. More articles from Eaton-Williams Group Ltd: |
