Tasty package for MCL Energy
April 1st 2008

Energy Services supplier,MCL Energy, was recently awarded a long-term boiler and utilities maintenance services contract for Saxon Valley Foods at its Bedfordshire manufacturing facility.

The company, part of the multinational Bakkavor Group that has manufacturing bases across the globe, was looking for a site utilities solution that included management of the boiler house, compressed air, factory and office heating, and DHW systems.

The client put a specification together for suppliers to bid against. Plant upgrade and replacement requirements included modifications to the condensate return system to reduce the cost associated with steam generation and some conversion of steam to LPHW heat exchangers to direct fired units.

As part of Saxon Valley Foods energy efficiency initiatives, the steam boilers are having variable speed drives fitted to reduce electrical consumption and cost.

The service provided by MCL Energy includes daily operation of the associated plant and equipment, 24h call-out response, all service, replacement and steam distribution testing.

The capital works for the plant, and systems upgrades are being financed by MCL Energy over the term of the contract.

Saxon Valley Foods is the latest in a growing portfolio of industrial customers who are taking advantage of MCL's energy services packages that are designed to give the optimum site energy and utilities solutions for its customers.
