Mix-proof valves April 1st 2006 Alfa Laval has introduced a tank outlet, mix-proof valve that isolates tanks and other storage vessels from pipelines in food, beverage and other sanitary processes.
The TO valves are of modular design and come in a number of configurations to enable users to select the optimum design for any given duty. Once installed, they provide a mix-proof barrier between the tank and the pipeline, enabling the product in the tank to be isolated when the pipeline is being used for other purposes.
The valves are normally closed and controlled by way of compressed air. Each valve has two independent plug seals, thereby forming a leakage chamber into which any product leak will flow.
This isolates the leak from the main flow, and from where it will exit via the discharge outlet.
The leakage chamber is automatically closed when the valve is opened to allow product to flow from the tank through the pipeline. More articles from Alfa Laval Limited: |
