Lightening the electricity bill June 1st 2008 Philips Lighting says its incredible
that outdated and uneconomic 8ft
fluorescent tubes are still being
used.Typically they are found in
the industrial sector where ceilings
are in excess of 20 to 30ft.
Replacement of lamps is costly
since the unwieldy size requires a
2-man operation and lifting
equipment.
Philips says a 100W Colour 35 8ft
fluorescent lamp can only be used
on switch start gear and has an
average lifetime of 1 to 11/2 years.
A new generation fluorescent
lamp such as the Master TL-D 70 W
Colour 80 can be used on high
frequency gear giving savings of
up to 40% energy. It will also give
at least the same light output and
conforms to the building code EN
12464-1. With the introduction of
Philips Master TL-D Xtra and
Xtreme the original Master TL-D
Super 80 product range has been
extended. When used with
electromagnetic control gear, the
90% survival rate for the Xtra is
24 000h and for Xtreme is 40 000h.
As Master TL-D Xtra and Xtreme
are fully retrofit with T8 luminaires
and gear, changeover is easy. More articles from Philips Lighting: |
