Setsquare joins forces to reduce energy costs February 1st 2008 As an on going targeting exercise,
selected buildings throughout the
UK have been chosen for the
installation of Setsquare lighting
control systems.
Catterick Garrison featured as a
main starting point for the
introduction of lighting controls.
Centre to the operation of the
garrison is its headquarter
building Baden Powell House.
Spread across two floors, key
personnel operate within this
building 24 hours a day
throughout the year.
As an operational building for
the garrison, Alan Stagles, energy
manager northern, set out to
reduce the consumption of
electricity at Baden Powell House.
"We calculated that lighting the
building was costing in the region
of £5,000.00" states Alan. "With the
activity within the building we
knew lighting was been left on.
Setsquare's range of passive
infrared occupancy controls were
installed within offices and
corridors over two floors.
"Featuring a range of stand alone
sensors and modular lighting
controls enabled us to target key
areas and since the installation has
been completed, through our
energy monitoring of the building,
we have identified that the
installed systems are assisting us in
reducing consumption in lighting
costs. A key factor in installing
lighting controls was the benefits
in reduced CO2 emissions. Figures
supplied by Setsquare detailed that
installing lighting controls reduced
Global Carbon Emissions by
27,600Kg. Within a short period,we
have saved in the region of 600 k/w
hours." More articles from Setsquare Ltd: |
