SHIP to keep vulnerable residents warm
June 1st 2008

Salford City Council has appointed Honeywell as sole controls manufacturer partner for its Salford Heating Installer Partnership (SHIP).

The scheme is a major initiative to help Salford's most vulnerable residents keep warm in their homes.

Honeywell will provide wired and wireless heating programmers and thermostats, control valves, thermostatic radiator valves and automatic boiler bypass valves.

Council surveyors will determine the optimum controls to be used to provide high standards of comfort and energy efficiency.

The Salford City Council initiative was launched by its Madam Mayor, Cllr Val Burgoyne, and Councillor Peter Connor, Lead Member for Housing.

"The SHIP scheme has received much support and encouragement from both installers and manufacturers," says Cllr Peter Connor, Salford City Council's lead member for housing. "We believe this type of scheme has the potential to expand and also to be a model for other authorities and Housing associations to follow."
