Reducing plant temperature 10° is a breeze
June 1st 2008

By specifying six Breezair TBA coolers (from Seeley International Europe), CoSaf Environments has reduced temperatures in JCB Tranmissions'Wrexham gearbox plant by over 10°C.

The gearbox plant is a highdensity 230,000ft2 area, which operates a 24/7 shift system. Part of the factory area has a low-level roof, which traps warm air and when combined with heat generated from the machines, temperatures reach over 33°C in summer. The solution had to provide frequent air changes as well as cooling.

Six Breezair TBA air coolers were installed on the roof above the low roofed section of the gearbox plant, with cool air being distributed via ductwork to air diffusers and then into the heataffected areas to provide temperature relief. Barry Stevens, site services manager, is now in discussion with CoSaf Environments about installing heating and cooling into the other part of the gearbox plant.

"Breezair has enabled us to provide very effective cooling for our employees without using equipment with polluting HCFC gases, using 80% less energy than if we had installed refrigerative air conditioning." The Breezair coolers are groupcontrolled by a single Breezair Industrial Wall Control (IWC).
