Heat pump
October 1st 2006

A Nibe Fighter 1320 brine/water heat pump has been connected to a bore hole in the garden of a six bedroom house with a sauna, gym, swimming pool and cinema, to meet its heating needs.

Water from an underground source is pumped to a Nibe Plex heat exchanger and dumped to one of the estate's three lakes. The system uses latent heat in the ground, with energy pumped in a solution of water and antifreeze from the Phex heat exchanger.

Brine loses its heat to the refrigerant in the pumps's evaporator, the solution is vapourised then compressed to increase temperature before release into the houses's heating system.
