Driving down pool’s energy costs

An ABB drive is set to save Hendra Holiday Park in Cornwall almost Ł5000 on the annual electricity cost for its indoor swimming pool.

A Calorex air conditioning system is used to control the environment of the pool building.

The fan on the unit was driven at full speed at all times, but had its air flow reduced 40% by a damper.

Advanced Power Drive Systems installed an ABB drive on the unit.

From a normal constant energy use of 31kW, the VSD reduced this to 17kW for 9h and 7kW for 12h at night and for 3h during the day.
