Opening a fully efficient house December 1st 2006 PRIVA Building Intelligence is providing environmental management at the new £3.06 million An Lannatir arts centre on the Stornoway sea front. The Centre houses a full gallery, flexible performance space, educational workshop, community room, offices, shop, bar, and cafe/restaurant and a 239 seat auditorium. Air handling units (AHU) serve the auditorium and art gallery.The gallery AHU manages the heating, cooling and humidity levels. dependent on the needs of the exhibits, and has been fitted with a high level of filtration to protect works of art against possible incoming pollution, such as pollen from the local flora. An independently controlled split air conditioner has been installed in the theatre control room to counteract the high temperature generated by the electronic equipment that manages the stage lighting and audio equipment. Ongoing operational costs will be managed by a series of standard energy management programmes such as optimum start/stop, reducing the boiler runtimes serving the corridor radiators by applying the weather compensation program, and correctly managing the underfloor heating system that serves the large scenery store.
