Trap survey proves cost effective August 1st 2006 The savings from a steam trap survey by Spirax Sarco has helped Durham based C-Tyre offset a massive rise in its gas tariff by saving an estimated 30 000 in annual energy costs. It was several years since the company's steam trap population was last overhauled and when Spirax Sarco Engineers carried out the survey, they discovered that several traps had failed. Ascertaining the value of the resulting steam savings was complicated by changing gas prices. C-Tyres calculated that the savings they could achieve by eliminating the losses from these traps amounted to 30 000 based on its actual gas tariff at the time. The tariff then rose by 80% later that same month, taking the potential savings to over the 50 000 mark. More articles from Spirax Sarco Ltd: |
