Steam plant cuts running costs December 1st 2006 St George's Hospital in Tooting, South London has been using a prototype of Spirax Sarcos's Ci- NERGY (Compact Intelligent Energy Recovery Unit) since the beginning of the year and reports pleasing results. The complete, fully assembled condensate recovery unit can handle up to 30,000kg of hot condensate per hour and has a delivery head of up to 35 metres enabling it to pump condensate under virtually all conditions. Brian Dunne at St George's said: "Our previous condensate receiver was leaking and not pumping correctly, so valuable condensate was being lost. Ci–NERGY is a onepump unit, efficiently gathering condensate cheaply, and the variable speed drive means it knows how often to pump out.As it is a small, low-level unit, access has been improved and we've been able to save a lot of space in the plant room.
