Power station compressor control

Denca Controls has developed and installed a new SCADA solution, enabling compressor status to be monitored in the control room of Premier Power's gas-fired electricity generating station B at Ballylumford, Northern Ireland.

Denca was asked to develop a new control terminal solution to enable remote viewing and control of the power station's Atlas Copco air compressors.The solution provided involved Rockwell Automations RS View SCADA software interfaced into the Allen Bradley SLC PLC DH+ network via Modbus communications to each of the three field mounted Atlas Copco bespoke HMIs.

The system involved full software design, SCADA graphics, event/alarm logging and commissioning of the system without any instrument air system down time.
