Exhausted air recycling system April 1st 2008 A new compressed air technology
called the Exhausted Air Recycling
System or EARS, is producing
substantial benefits including
reducing energy costs, cutting
carbon emissions, increasing
productivity and improving
workplace health and safety.
Over a five year period, it is
estimated that 85% of the average
costs for a compressed air system
will be for the electricity used to
generate and dry the air. If used to
its full potential, the installation of
an EARS compressed air system can
have a significant impact on these
costs and could reduce your energy
consumption by up to 40% year on
year.
The EARS system provides a
closed loop between the air
compressor and the air tool by
capturing the exhausted air and
returning it to the patented EARS
manifold fitted to the compressor.
The system can used for any type of
pneumatic product that exhausted
air can be captured from. The
closed-loop system generates more
useable compressed air with less
energy.
By purchasing a smaller EARS
compressor from the start, your
power consumption can be greatly
reduced. This is due to the recirculating
exhausted air allowing
the compressor to work much less
to generate and maintain the
pressure needed. Energy costs are
reduced due to the ability of this
EARS optimised compressor to
deliver an air volume that could only
otherwise be achieved with
conventional technology by using a
larger motor with a higher
consumption.With EARS
technology, an 11kW compressor
can generate the same air volume as
a conventionally operated 18.5kW
compressor. For new compressor
acquisitions, this can make a
significant difference to the
compressor size and cost that would
otherwise be required. Installing a
retrofit kit to your existing
compressor will allow you to get
more air out without having to
purchase a new larger one.
With the capture of exhausted air
at the pneumatic product, all the
noise and contaminants normally
ejected next to the user are sent
back to the compressor via filters.
The EARS tool system is now
available in the UK through their
exclusive distributor, Tom Parker. More articles from Tom Parker Ltd: |
